Chatbot, Sign, and Survey offer additional convenience for patients and practices
Today’s healthcare isn’t all about technology. Nor is it all about people. It’s about finding ways to use technology and people as efficiently and effectively as possible. That means leaving routine, repetitive, and time-consuming tasks to the machines while letting human beings do the things they do best, such as talking to patients, assessing health, and making medical decisions based on all available evidence.
The 2022 eClinicalWorks and healow National Conference showcased many of the innovative products we have developed to help practices achieve that balance between technological and human resources.
Here’s a closer look at three new healow products featured at the Conference.
healow Chatbot: Keep your front desk from being a help desk
Every practice knows that their patients expect great service from their healthcare provider.
And why not? People don’t wait to use pay phones anymore. They don’t stand in the pouring rain for a taxi that never comes. And they won’t drive for an hour or more hoping to find an item they can easily order online for next-day delivery.
healow Chatbot helps your practice provide the level of service patients expect in other areas of daily life. And it answers the question: How can you run a 24/7 operation? After all, you can’t afford to hire people to answer your phones around the clock. And using an answering service is limited because they lack the knowledge your patients need.
With healow Chatbot, however, your patients have access to a virtual assistant right on your website that can handle many of the routine inquiries patients have. From recovering forgotten passwords to accessing records to posing questions, Chatbot is a secure solution, fully integrated with your Electronic Health Record and Practice Management system, that can answer a wide range of common questions patients at any practice may have.
Chatbot is enabled from the On-Demand Activation page, and practices can customize its look and feel, including changing the welcome message. They can even decide where the widget should appear on the practice’s homepage.
Another great example of technology helping people is healow Sign, which is our solution for collecting patient signatures for forms of any kind, such as preop consult forms, disclosures, or permissions.
In the patient’s record, the provider or staff member simply clicks the healow Connect icon, which serves as the unified communication hub for voice, text, email, and app notifications. From the dropdown menu, they can select “healow Sign” and create a form.
The user can then drag and drop various fields onto the document, providing a place for the patient’s name and signature. Any or all fields can be made mandatory, such that the form will not be accepted until and unless the patient completes all required fields.
Once the form is ready, the practice can send the patient a text on their smartphone. The patient simply clicks the link, confirms their identity, and receives a one-time passcode they can use to access the form, sign it, and return it electronically to the practice.
Finally, we have added healow Survey, which allows practices to create customized surveys and questionnaires to share with their patients, whether for satisfaction surveys, care management, or any other purpose.
The practice begins by creating the survey in English. Then, depending upon their practice’s demographics and target recipients, they can then select from more than a dozen languages into which to translate the survey — including Spanish, French, Arabic, Russian, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Hindi, Tamil, and Urdu.
At that point, healow Survey does real-time translation, producing the survey in each language the practice wants to use. And users can continue to edit their document as they see fit, adding, deleting, or modifying questions until they have what they wish to say.
